Bail Payment in the Halushchenko Case
The full bail amount of 150 million hryvnia has been paid for former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. The last 45 million hryvnia were covered by two private firms: Pelet Service, which contributed 4 million hryvnia, and Hirant Contract, which paid 41 million hryvnia. Earlier, on June 26, Hirant Contract had already deposited 46 million hryvnia toward the bail.
On June 12, the High Anti-Corruption Court reduced the bail from 200 million to 150 million hryvnia. Hirant Contract, founded in 2024 and registered in the city of Brovary, specializes in wholesale trade of iron products, plumbing, and heating equipment. As of October 2024, the company's authorized capital stands at just 5,000 hryvnia, and it employs only one person. Over the previous two years, Hirant Contract reported no profits. The company's director and beneficiary is Olena Sidun.
Company Specializations
Pelet Service, based in Kyiv, focuses on logging operations. Its sole director and owner is Nazar Boyko, a 34-year-old Kyiv resident who also owns four other companies.
The payment of this bail marks a key step in Halushchenko's case, highlighting the active role private companies play in financial processes tied to court proceedings.
This bail payment underscores the private sector's involvement in legal cases related to corruption investigations. It also points to potential connections between private firms and public officials, which could influence the case's further development.
In the broader context of Ukraine's anti-corruption efforts, such actions may affect public trust in the legal system and its ability to deliver justice.
The recent developments in Halushchenko's case draw parallels to the previous bail arrangements involving other former officials. For instance, a similar situation occurred when three private companies contributed a significant sum to secure the release of former Minister Galushchenko. This trend raises questions about the intricate ties between private enterprises and government figures in Ukraine's ongoing struggle against corruption.
