Traffic Accident Statistics in Ukraine for the First Half of 2025
From January to June 2025, 1370 people died in Ukraine as a result of traffic accidents, including 69 children. 13,895 people were injured in road accidents, according to data from 'Ukravtoprom', published by the portal 'Hlavkom'.
Stability in the Number of Traffic Accidents
Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of traffic accidents with fatalities and/or injuries has changed little - 11,194 cases.
Most often, as noted, people died in traffic accidents due to speeding violations. 751 fatal cases have been confirmed.
The second leading cause of fatalities is driving into oncoming traffic, unrelated to overtaking, i.e. 95 people.
Third in this sad statistic is pedestrians crossing in unestablished places. 67 citizens lost their lives in such cases.
Specifics of Traffic Accidents
According to statistics, the highest number of traffic accidents occurs between 4 PM and 7 PM, and the most dangerous day of the week is Friday.
On Saturday, July 19, a terrible incident occurred in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, when a prosecutor's employee hit a woman right on the sidewalk and then fled the scene. The next day, the woman died in the hospital. The driver has been charged with violating traffic regulations while intoxicated, which led to someone's death.
The suspect turned out to be Andrii Andriiovych Molokhnyy - the son of a former actor of 'Faina Ukrainia', who fled to Moscow at the beginning of the war. The court chose a preventive measure of detention for 60 days.
