Deputy Head of the Village Council Detained for Bribery: Over a Million for Land

In Kyiv, the deputy head of the Kozelets Village Council was arrested for demanding over one million hryvnias for assistance in allocating land for sorting household waste. The suspect has been charged with corruption.



The businessman planned to obtain a government land plot for waste sorting on the council's territory. The deputy head demanded over one million hryvnias for his 'services', which included 185 thousand hryvnias, 15 thousand US dollars, and 5 thousand US dollars for each stage of 'facilitation'. He was detained in Kyiv while receiving the bribe.



The deputy head of the Kozelets Village Council claimed he could influence the council members and help resolve issues related to land allocation. Plans to obtain a decision had been in preparation since 2023.
