Russian Strikes Leave Dead and Wounded Across Ukraine

Over recent days, Russia's air attacks have brought tragedy to several Ukrainian cities. Six people were wounded in Kyiv and its region, two people died in Kryvyi Rih and 14 more were injured, and one person lost their life in Sumy. Ballistic missiles targeted both Kremenchuk and Kryvyi Rih. Air-raid alerts were active across Ukraine, with many regions hearing sirens in the morning as a new wave of drones was launched.

The attacks provide a stark reminder of the constant danger that Russian strikes create for Ukrainian civilians.

Emergency crews, police and medics have been working at the sites of the strikes. Fires in Kyiv have been extinguished, while repair work continues. Over the last week, 13 Ukrainian regions have come under attack. According to available data, Russian forces used more than 1,550 strike drones, nearly 1,560 aerial bombs and 62 missiles, most of them ballistic missiles of various types.

Mourning, Gratitude and the Urgent Need for Air Defense

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families of those killed, saying: "My condolences to their families and loved ones."

The president also thanked all the services working at the impact sites: "I am grateful to all services - State Emergency Service units, police and medics." He stressed that when "North Korean ballistic missiles destroy infrastructure and take lives here in Europe, European interceptors cannot simply remain stored in warehouses." Additional aid packages, he added, "literally mean saved lives and protected infrastructure every day."

These events reinforce the urgent need for dependable air defense to shield Ukrainian cities and their residents. As the conflict continues to escalate, it is vital that Ukraine's international partners not only keep providing military assistance but also supply the advanced technology needed for effective defense against aerial attacks.

The situation in Ukraine remains highly tense, and repeated attacks are likely. Constant readiness and a focus on protecting civilians are essential.

The recent surge in airstrikes has not only left many Ukrainian cities in mourning but has also resulted in widespread infrastructure damage. For instance, the overnight assault on Odesa has plunged over 300,000 homes into darkness, highlighting the extensive impact of these attacks on civilian life.
