Death of Border Guard Yevhen Biloblowskyi
Border guard Yevhen Biloblowskyi was killed on January 23, 2024, after an enemy FPV drone struck his position in the Kharkiv region. He had joined the State Border Guard Service in February 2023 to defend Ukraine. His combat service began on the Bakhmut axis, where he carried out his duties amid some of the war's most intense fighting.
Combat Service and Final Mission
Following his deployment near Bakhmut, Biloblowskyi was assigned to conduct combat missions in the Kharkiv region. In November 2023, he participated in an assault near Budarok, where his unit advanced 800 meters and secured new positions. By early 2024, he was manning a defensive observation post near the settlement of Zemlianky.
On January 24, 2024, Russian forces attacked his position using an FPV drone. Biloblowskyi sustained severe injuries from the strike and was evacuated by his comrades to a stabilization point. Despite medical efforts, his life could not be saved. More about this fallen soldier can be found in the memorial book for personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system.
Biloblowskyi's death underscores the perilous conditions on the front lines and the persistent threats faced by Ukrainian defenders. The increasing tactical use of first-person-view (FPV) drones by both sides has become a defining and deadly feature of this conflict. This tragedy is a stark reminder of the human cost of war and the sacrifice of those who serve.
