Among the victims was 22-year-old William Davis, an American football player for Sam Houston State University, who died after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. That same day in Turkey, a road accident killed 16-year-old Abdullah Sultanoglu, a young footballer for Ankara's Keçiörengücü youth squad, after his motorcycle collided with a car. Additional tragic news came from occupied Luhansk, where former Zorya goalkeeper Vasyl Zanin died in a house fire.
