The Death of Defender Dmytro Tarasevych

Ukrainian soldier Dmytro Tarasevych, 34, was killed by enemy shelling in the Donetsk region on August 10, 2024. He was born on November 24, 1989, in the city of Rivne, where he attended School No. 20. Following his secondary education, he trained as a programmer at the Stepan Demyanchuk International University of Economics and Humanities. His death is a stark reminder of the ongoing human cost of the war in Ukraine, where citizens from all walks of life have taken up arms.

Life and Service

Before his mobilization in May 2024, Dmytro worked as an auto mechanic. He adapted quickly to military life, applying his technical skills to repair vehicles. His uncle recalled Dmytro as a positive and open young man who loved playing the guitar and had a keen interest in computers, always smiling and easy to talk to in his free time.

After his death, the soldier's body was identified and returned to his family. Dmytro Tarasevych was laid to rest on February 11, 2026, in the Alley of Heroes at the 'Tynne' Cemetery in Rivne. He is survived by his brother, uncle, and grandfather, who will remember his heroism and dedication to defending his country.

The loss of Dmytro Tarasevych reflects the continued sacrifices made by Ukrainian military personnel in the protracted conflict. His story exemplifies how individuals from diverse professions and life paths have united for a common cause—the defense of their homeland.
