Defender Sergiy Palichuk was killed on January 5, 2024, in the village of Bohdanivka, Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. His parents settled in Chernivtsi region when he was a child, and later they moved to Zaporizhzhia region. Sergiy served in Kazakhstan and then became a volunteer in the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the war. His call sign among his comrades was 'Okun', due to his hobby - fishing.
The defender was killed as a result of a machine gun nest being targeted by a drone. Sergiy Palichuk died just a few days before his 53rd birthday. He is survived by a wife, a son, four daughters, and five grandchildren.
