Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian war every day at 9 a.m. Today we remember Andriy Fedin.
Senior soldier Andriy Fedin, known as Fant, was killed on December 23, 2023, near the village of Shumy in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to the Chernivtsi regional council.
Andriy Andriyovych Fedin was born on June 14, 1982, in Bukovina in the village of Shypyntsi. He studied at a local lyceum and then obtained a specialty in radio mechanics for the maintenance and repair of radio and television equipment at a vocational school in Chernivtsi. He worked abroad for ten years, but returned to Ukraine before the onset of the full-scale war.
He defended the state as the commander of a combat vehicle, commander of the 2nd mechanized section of the 2nd mechanized platoon of the 5th mechanized company of the 2nd mechanized battalion of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Daniel.
During the performance of a combat mission, the warrior was seriously wounded and died as a result of enemy sniper fire. The defender was 41 years old. The brigade command posthumously awarded Andriy Fedin the 'Cross of the Hero' order.
«We lived together with Andriy for the last eight years, loving each other deeply, we had many plans for life, we were to register our marriage, but we didn't have time... Andriy was the kindest person in the world, polite, generous, fair, brave, the most beloved man in the world. Now my Hero is forever!» - said his beloved Olena.
«He was a true warrior, with a big heart. For him, the most important thing was to protect his comrades and his homeland. His example will live in the hearts of those who knew him and inspire others to fight for freedom. We bow our heads before his feat and will always remember his self-sacrifice», - said his brothers-in-arms about the warrior.
Recognition for Courage
According to the decree of the President of Ukraine No. 234/2025 for personal courage and selflessness shown in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the defender was posthumously awarded the 'For Courage' order of the III degree for conscientious fulfillment of his duty to the Homeland. The award was received by the Hero's mother and daughter on June 24, 2025.
Andriy Fedin was buried in his native village of Shypyntsi. He is survived by his beloved, two daughters, parents, and a brother.
