Why the film is no longer mandatory
Modern gadgets are equipped with durable glass such as Gorilla Glass or Ceramic Shield, designed for intensive use. Flagship devices have such reliable displays that the need for additional protection has practically disappeared.
Increased resistance to impacts
Brands are strengthening not only screens but also the entire phone structure. Some devices even receive military standard strength certifications. Thin protective films are ineffective during severe drops, and modern screens are much less prone to minor scratches from items in pockets.
Image quality without interference
Protective films become dull over time and scratch more easily than factory glass, which reduces the quality of content viewing. For protection against drops, it is more effective to use a case with raised edges - although this is also becoming less critical.
Service and warranties
Manufacturers are developing support programs: Apple has AppleCare+, Samsung has its own service. In case of screen damage, it can be repaired quickly and at a reasonable price, making the mandatory use of the film less justifiable.
