17th 'Return' Mental Health Center Launches
The 17th 'Return' Mental Health Center has been established within a medical facility of the National Guard of Ukraine to aid in the recovery of service members. This initiative is part of a joint effort by Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard of Ukraine, and the nationwide network of 'Return' Mental Health Centers. A multidisciplinary team operates at the center, including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, and veteran support specialists.
Modern Treatment Approaches
The center employs up-to-date therapeutic methods, such as:
- trauma-focused therapy
- cognitive-behavioral therapy
- group psychotherapy
- art therapy
- mask therapy
Those currently undergoing rehabilitation are defenders of Mariupol who recently returned to Ukraine after nearly four years in Russian captivity. Inna Yashchuk, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, commented:
“The mental health center’s specialists work with everyone in rehabilitation, and that is its immense value.”
The opening of the 17th 'Return' Mental Health Center marks a significant step in supporting military personnel who have endured stress and trauma during their service, particularly those freed from captivity. The use of advanced treatment methods and the work of a multidisciplinary team highlight a comprehensive approach to recovery, which is vital for restoring veterans’ mental well-being. This development also underscores Ukraine’s commitment to caring for its defenders and providing them with the resources needed to reintegrate into normal life.
