CRISIS IN THE FCAS PROJECT DUE TO CONFLICT AMONG PARTNERS
The European project for the creation of the sixth-generation fighter FCAS is under threat due to a conflict between Dassault and the German side. The French company claims 80% participation in the project, which has caused anger among the Germans. The FCAS initiative was launched in 2017 by France, Germany, and Spain to strengthen European defense.
The German Ministry of Defense accused the French side of blocking the defense program after Dassault made demands for control over the project. Jacob Ross, a fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations, emphasized that Dassault will not gain control over the entire program, as there are other components such as the combat cloud and others.
The situation in the FCAS project has escalated due to the conflict between French and German partners, which may affect the development of European defense as a whole.
