Tragedy in Transcarpathia
In Transcarpathia, an eight-year-old girl died as a result of a falling tree while playing near a location where trees were being cut down. The tragedy occurred on January 5 in the village of Vinkove, Mukachevo district, where a report of the child's death was received. It is known that the girl died before the arrival of the ambulance.
According to preliminary data, a tree fell on the child during the cutting works. At the time of the accident, the girl's mother was in the house. In connection with this, the police detained the person involved in the case and placed him in a temporary detention facility.
Legal Consequences
The investigative authorities opened two criminal proceedings:
- one under Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - homicide through negligence;
- the other under Article 166 - failure of parents to fulfill their duties regarding care for the child.
This tragedy has caused a wide resonance, and the National Police has initiated a service investigation into the fatal incident in Priluki, in which a child died.
This case underscores the importance of adhering to safety during tree works, especially in residential areas where children may be present. The opened criminal proceedings indicate the seriousness of the situation and the desire of law enforcement to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy to prevent similar cases in the future.
