Ukrainian veterans with amputations swam across the Bosphorus: how they did it

Ukrainian veterans, including two individuals with amputated limbs, successfully completed a swim across the Bosphorus Strait. Representatives from the Superhumans center emphasized that it was important for them to conquer this distance on equal terms with 'typical' participants. This was reported by the publication 'Glavkom' based on information from Superhumans.



Details of the 'Bosphorus 2025' swim


The 'Bosphorus 2025' swim took place on August 24. Over 2500 athletes started from the Asian part of Istanbul and finished in the European part, covering a distance of 6.5 km.





Participants from Ukraine showed the following results:



  • Pavlo, who had a leg amputated due to an injury, completed the distance in 1 hour 23 minutes.

  • Oleh, who experienced two concussions, finished the swim in 1 hour 24 minutes.

  • Oleksandr, who had a leg amputated above the knee, completed the distance in 1 hour 30 minutes. He also reached the Everest base camp this April.



Disappearance of the Russian athlete


During the swim, news emerged about the disappearance of Russian swimmer Mykola Svyetchnikov, a candidate for master of sports.


According to competition reports, Mykola Svyetchnikov went missing during the swim across the Bosphorus in Turkey. This information was circulated by the publication 'Glavkom' referencing Russian media.


Ukrainian veterans demonstrated impressive achievements by swimming across the Bosphorus Strait alongside 'typical' athletes. Their results testify to a high level of training and willpower qualities deserving respect.
