Casualties and Destruction in Zaporizhzhia Region
Russian forces inflicted severe damage on Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region over the past day. The attacks resulted in four civilian deaths and left two others wounded. Occupying troops launched a total of 643 strikes across 32 settlements in the region, causing widespread destruction.
Local authorities have documented 218 reports of damage to homes, vehicles, and infrastructure. In one specific incident, Russian aircraft struck a village in the Zaporizhzhia district around 10:00 PM on February 24. The attack destroyed a residential building, where the bodies of three people were later recovered. At another location, a two-story house was damaged; one body was found there, and a child was injured.
Furthermore, on the night of February 23-24, occupation forces attacked the city of Zaporizhzhia with drones, injuring five people, including one child. This relentless bombardment continues a pattern of attacks that have defined the frontline region for years. It is worth noting that since the full-scale invasion began four years ago, Ukraine's air defenses have destroyed over 140,000 enemy aerial targets.
Humanitarian Crisis in the Region
These events underscore the dire humanitarian situation in Zaporizhzhia, which suffers from constant Russian assaults. The loss of life and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure highlight the severe consequences of the war for local communities. The continuation of such shelling threatens the safety of the population and complicates any efforts to rebuild the region.
