National Program Health Screening 40+
In Ukraine, the National Program Health Screening 40+ has been launched, aimed at the early detection of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and mental health issues among people aged 40 and older. This is the first instance of such a program being implemented in Ukraine, which is extremely important for the health of the population.
Every day in Ukraine, over 1000 people die from cardiovascular diseases, which account for 60% of premature deaths. Additionally, over 1.2 million Ukrainians live with diabetes, and up to 10 million may have mental health issues. In light of these statistics, the screening program will provide an opportunity to timely detect and prevent serious health consequences.
How Does the Program Work?
Every Ukrainian who turns 40 will receive an invitation for screening through the Diia application on the 30th day after their birthday. After accepting the invitation, program participants will receive 2000 hryvnias on their Diia Card, which can be used to pay for the screening. About 400 health care institutions have already expressed a desire to join this program, indicating the interest of medical facilities in improving the health of the population.
Health Screening 40+ includes testing for three main diseases:
- cardiovascular diseases
- diabetes
- mental health issues
This initiative aims not only to improve people's health but also to reduce the burden on the healthcare system as a whole.
The introduction of the Health Screening 40+ program is an important step in the fight against common diseases that significantly affect the longevity and quality of life for Ukrainians. It may also have a positive impact on the economy, as a healthy population is less prone to costs related to treatment and rehabilitation. The program underscores the importance of prevention in modern healthcare, which can serve as a foundation for further initiatives in this area.
