Booked IT specialists earn 31% more: data from a new study

Ukrainian IT specialists with a mobilization booking status receive significantly higher salaries compared to colleagues without this status. According to DOU analytics, the median salary of booked specialists is $3933 (164,854 UAH), which exceeds the industry average by 31% ($3000).



Startups offer the highest salaries, as booked IT specialists earn an average of $5250 (220,057 UAH) here. In outsourcing companies, earnings amount to $4925, in service companies — $4275, and in product companies — $4000. However, in public structures and internal IT departments of non-IT companies, the salaries are the lowest: $2133 and $2500, respectively.

  • Those who are not subject to mobilization (mainly youth under 25) — $1700.




Stress and volunteering among booked IT specialists


Even protected from mobilization, booked IT specialists have a high level of stress, averaging 6.3 points out of 10. Those without booking experience the highest stress — 6.6 points due to the fear of conscription. Among those exempt from mobilization, the stress level is slightly lower — 5.9 points.



Booked IT specialists are more likely to provide financial assistance to the army — 82% of them do this, which is above the industry average (71%). They also actively participate in volunteer and open-source projects, while unbooked specialists are less actively involved in such initiatives due to feelings of instability and uncertainty.


Booking from mobilization has become a key factor for stability in the Ukrainian IT market, allowing companies to retain important personnel and aiding specialists in maintaining psychological resilience amid the war conflict.
