Luxembourg is facing a shortage of skilled workers, offering opportunities for employment for Ukrainians in Europe. In some professions, salaries can reach 4600 euros per month after taxes and fees, however, employers find it difficult to find candidates. RMF24 reports on this.
Working in Luxembourg: which specialists are lacking in 2026
There is significant demand in the financial sector. Companies are looking for financial analysts, accountants, auditors, banking consultants, and specialists in investment fund management.
Among other in-demand areas:
-
IT: programmers, software engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity specialists, and data analysts.
-
Law: lawyers, particularly specializing in banking and insurance.
-
Medicine and social sector: nurses, medical technicians, caregivers for the elderly, and social workers.
-
Engineering: specialists in robotics, biotechnology, aviation, and renewable energy.
-
Construction and industry: skilled workers in various specialties.
The list mainly covers jobs that require specialized training. Therefore, the shortage of labor does not imply employment without verifying experience, education, or other requirements of a specific employer.
For some highly qualified workers, one of the possible legalization tools is the EU Blue Card. However, compliance with its conditions needs to be checked according to the rules of the country of employment.
Salaries in Luxembourg: what does 4600 euros per month mean
The indicated amount refers to income after the deduction of taxes and fees. At the same time, it is not a unified rate for all listed professions: the communication does not contain a separate salary offer for each position.
For a candidate, it is important to differentiate between the gross amount stated in the contract and the net amount that is paid after deductions. If an employer only provides the annual salary before taxes, it cannot be directly compared to the stated 4600 euros net.
Before agreeing to an offer, it is worth clarifying:
-
job duties and qualification requirements;
-
necessary level of language proficiency;
-
salary before deductions and projected amount after them;
-
schedule, overtime pay, and probation period;
-
living conditions, if housing is provided by the employer.
A high salary does not equal the amount one can save: from the income, one must pay for housing, food, transport, and other needs. Therefore, job searching abroad should start with checking a specific vacancy and the terms of the contract.
