Over the year, the average salary in the retail sector in Ukraine increased by almost a third. According to the State Statistics Service, published by the Opendatabot portal, in 2024, officially employed workers in the sector earned an average of 11,379 UAH before taxes. This was reported by Opendatabot.

How incomes in retail have changed

In 2023, the average salary was 8,685 UAH, and before the full-scale invasion, it was only 7,660 UAH. In the first year of the war, the figure even dropped to 7,135 UAH due to business stoppages and decreased sales.

Analysts studied the financial reports of large retail companies with over 100 employees. The sample included not only sellers but also managers, administrative, and warehouse personnel.

The highest salaries in the retail sector are received by employees of the following companies:

  • GoodWine network – over 82,000 UAH per month with a staff of 710 people;

  • «ATB-Market» – over 52,000 UAH per month with over 42,000 employees;

  • Roshen store network (Izuminka enterprise) – over 41,000 UAH, staff of nearly 1,200 people.

Who raised salaries the fastest

Some companies managed to dramatically increase wages over the year. In particular:

  • «Express Pharmacy» (partner of the chains «Shar@», ANC, «Kopiyka», «Not Sick») – a 6-fold increase;

  • «DC Ukraine» (Watsons) – a 3-fold increase;

  • «First Pharmacy Kharkiv», «Alpha-Product», and «Eva» – more than a 2-fold increase.

Experts note that the increase in salaries in retail is explained by high competition for workers and a labor shortage that has persisted since 2022. Employers are forced to raise wages to retain personnel and maintain stable operations of stores.
