This figure, however, varies significantly based on an individual's specialization and years of experience, with distinct earning trends emerging across different skill levels.
Monthly Pay by Experience Level
The average monthly salary for a Middle Software Engineer is $2,500, marking a $100 increase. In contrast, Senior SEs earn $4,500, a $200 decrease from previous findings. Principal SEs command $6,333, up by $133. Meanwhile, intern pay has fallen to $300 (down $76), and junior developers receive $900, which is $30 less. Notably, a System Architect earns $6,500, though this represents a $400 drop.
The research identifies the following as the highest-paying specializations:
- Scala - median salary $6,500
- Rust - $5,250
- Ruby - $4,500
- Go and Kotlin - approximately $4,200
- Mobile and Embedded - around $5,500
- Ruby on Rails - $4,400

According to the data, professionals with 6-9 years of experience saw their salaries decline by $150-$300. Those with 12-14 years of experience earn about $5,200, while developers with over 15 years of experience make $5,000. Regionally, the median salary in Kyiv and Cherkasy is $3,700, and in Lviv, it is $3,505.
For context, Ukrainian developer salaries remain considerably lower than in many other countries. The study provides a comparison: average salaries are $6,950 in the UK, $6,235 in Canada, $5,800 in Portugal, $4,000 in Germany and the Czech Republic, and $3,850 in Bulgaria. The survey also found that 61% of respondents possess an Upper-Intermediate or Advanced level of English, a key asset for competing in the global job market.
The fluctuations in pay within Ukraine's tech industry mirror broader labor market trends, where demand for highly skilled specialists remains steady, but compensation sees specific variations depending on expertise and specialization.
Proficiency in English at a high level provides Ukrainian developers with enhanced opportunities for securing employment abroad, making them attractive candidates for international companies.
