Starting from September 1, 2026, the second stage of salary increase for educational and scientific-pedagogical workers is set to begin in Ukraine. Salaries are planned to be increased by another 20% following the January increase. This was reported by Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky.
Teachers' salaries in September: how the second stage will work
In 2026, it was decided to increase the salaries of educators in two stages. The first took place on January 1, when the salaries of pedagogical staff increased by 30%. Another increase of 20% is scheduled for September 1.
The change applies not only to school teachers but also to educational and scientific-pedagogical workers. Funds are provided to communities through the educational subvention, after which they are allocated for salaries in educational institutions.
The Ministry of Education explains that the second stage aims to solidify the increase in the base salary. The department also proposed to integrate the bonus for the prestige of the work into the salary so that this part of the payment is less dependent on local decisions.
Why the amount on the payslip will vary
A 20% increase does not mean that every teacher will receive the same monetary addition in hryvnias. The final salary depends on the salary grade, pedagogical load, years of service, qualification category, bonuses for class management, checking notebooks, and other additional payments.
Therefore, each employee will be able to see the exact amount on their September payslip. In the 2026 budget, 64.6 billion UAH is allocated for the program to increase the prestige of work in education.
Scholarships will also increase from September 2026
With the onset of autumn, the government plans to double academic scholarships for students. For this purpose, 6.6 billion UAH has been allocated in the state budget, reported the Verkhovna Rada.
The increase in salaries and scholarships is part of the preparation of the education system for the new academic year. At the same time, communities must complete work in shelters, ensure transportation for children by school buses, and organize a safe start to learning.
