The Diaspora Alliance for the Restoration of Ukraine Has Been Launched: What Tasks It Will Address

Deputy Foreign Minister Maryana Betza joined a briefing organized jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Social Policy, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on the occasion of World Migrant Day. During the event, the launch of the Diaspora Alliance for the Restoration of Ukraine was announced.


The briefing also featured speeches by the EU Special Representative for Ukrainians in the EU Ilva Johansson, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Denys Uliutin, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Ilona Havronska, Head of the Mission of the World Congress of Ukrainians in Ukraine Andrii Shevchenko, and other representatives of national and international organizations.


During her speech, Maryana Betza emphasized the importance of supporting Ukrainians who left their homes due to Russian aggression and thanked states and international partners for their assistance to Ukraine. The launch of the Diaspora Alliance is an important step in developing cooperation and support for the restoration of Ukraine.

The initiative of the Alliance involves joint activities focused on economic interaction, social integration, community support, the return and support of Ukrainians, as well as data collection for coordinating various programs. The goal of the Alliance is to avoid duplication of initiatives and enhance the effectiveness of support for the Ukrainian diaspora.


Support and Cooperation


The participants of the briefing noted the significant contribution of the IOM in assisting Ukraine amid the war, acting as an instrument of solidarity and support for displaced persons due to Russian aggression. The work of the organization is an essential element of international efforts to mitigate the effects of the war on our citizens.
