UN adopts resolution on the return of Ukrainian children: what does it mean

Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maryana Betza visited the UN headquarters in New York to support the UN General Assembly resolution 'Return of Ukrainian children'. This initiative belongs to President Volodymyr Zelensky.



Main events of the visit


During her visit on December 3, Maryana Betza held meetings with senior UN officials, including Secretary-General António Guterres, UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, and others. She also held meetings with representatives of various countries and the European Union.



Call to the international community


'This resolution is about humanity and the moral obligation of the international community to return every Ukrainian child home. A just peace is impossible without the return of Ukrainian children.'

Maryana Betza underscored the importance of returning Ukrainian children who are being deported and forcibly displaced by Russia, violating international law. She called on international partners to support the resolution and help return these children.



As a result of Maryana Betza's visit to the UN headquarters in New York, the Ukrainian side emphasized the importance of returning Ukrainian children who are being unlawfully held by Russia in occupied territories. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to support the resolution and restore justice for these children.
