Lviv Rocked by Deadly Terrorist Bombing

A terrorist attack in the city of Lviv has resulted in the death of a 23-year-old patrol officer, Viktoriia Shpylka, and left 24 others wounded. In connection with the incident, law enforcement has detained a woman suspected of carrying out the assault. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that the arrest took place in a district center within the Lviv region. This attack is a stark reminder of the persistent security challenges Ukraine faces amid ongoing regional instability.

The incident unfolded around 00:30 in central Lviv following a report of a break-in at a store on Danylyshyna Street. The first explosion detonated after the initial patrol crew arrived on the scene. A second blast occurred some time later when a second police unit arrived. The dual detonation of improvised explosive devices claimed the life of Viktoriia Shpylka, a graduate of the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs.

Official Response

Ihor Klymenko stated that law enforcement officers did everything possible to identify those involved in the terror act.

“Law enforcement officers have detained the alleged perpetrator of the explosion in Lviv. She was detained in a district center,” — Ihor Klymenko.
In addition to the officer's death, the explosions injured 24 people, all of whom have received medical assistance.
