As a result of the actions of the prosecutor's office and the SBU, over 40 million hryvnias were returned to the Kyiv budget, which had been seized by criminals within the framework of the "Care. Towards the Residents of Kyiv" program.
The suspects in the misuse of city budget funds returned the stolen money that had been allocated for assistance to residents back to the treasury of the capital.
From March to July 2025, the director of the Department of Social and Veteran Policy in Kyiv, his deputies, and entrepreneurs were suspected of embezzling budget funds intended for the "Care. Towards the Residents of Kyiv" program.
Entrepreneurs, together with officials from the city authorities, siphoned off money allocated for residents under the guise of payment for the rental of office premises, vehicles, and parking spaces. These funds were misused, and there were also fictitious expenses for services that were not actually provided.
Currently, due to the actions of the prosecutor's office and the SBU, 60.5 million hryvnias have already been returned, and efforts to recover the remaining losses are ongoing. The pre-trial investigation has been entrusted to investigators of the Main Directorate of the SBU in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the instructions of the city prosecutor's office.
