The government of Ukraine has decided to update the State Building Codes (DBN) regarding fire protection systems. Now, it is not necessary to mandatory install autonomous fire extinguishing systems in the premises of separately located communication base stations. This will allow mobile operators to plan investments more efficiently and direct resources toward developing critical infrastructure.
The appeal from the 'Kyivstar' company through the 'Pulse' platform helped the government understand the needs of modern market conditions and risks. The previous regulation was established back in 2014 and was aimed at fire protection, but the updates are a step toward compliance with European standards.
The 'Kyivstar' company states: 'The rapid update of the standards was made possible thanks to the 'Pulse' platform, which enhances dialogue between business and government.'
The update of the DBN will simplify the construction and maintenance processes of base stations, as well as help reduce risks to telecommunications equipment that may be caused by automatic fire extinguishers.
This update of the standards will allow network operators to manage resources more effectively and ensure the safety of their facilities in case of fire. It will also open new opportunities for the development and improvement of existing communication infrastructure in Ukraine.
