The final stage of the reclamation of the Gribovitsky landfill for solid household waste is indeed coming to an end. After years of efforts, the former landfill has quickly transformed into a safe space. The work included slope stabilization, leachate treatment, and green landscaping of the area. However, reclamation is not just a cozy alley with bushes; it is a complex process of returning the land to a state suitable for human health and the environment.
The project was supported by the European Investment Bank under the 'Municipal Infrastructure Development Program of Ukraine.' This program, amounting to 400 million euros, aims to modernize infrastructure in Ukrainian cities. An additional tranche of funding was confirmed during the visit of European Commissioner Marta Kos to the site. This successful example of cooperation between the European Union and Ukraine demonstrates that joint efforts effectively address complex environmental issues.
