In the first match of the second stage of the U-16 European Championship, Ukraine's women's cadet team suffered a defeat with a score of 43:55 against Denmark. In the second quarter, Denmark began to dictate its conditions and increased its lead by halftime, which both teams ended with a score of 33:23.

After the break, the situation on the court did not change - Denmark maintained its lead, although the offensive play of both teams raised questions. Both teams shot 30% from the field, but the decisive factor was free throw execution. Denmark made 16/23 free throws, while the Ukrainians only 8/10.

The top scorer for the Ukrainian team was Maria-Louisa Dzihora, who scored 11 points. Next, the Ukrainians will play for the 12-16 places against Sweden, which lost to Iceland today 77:102.

Victory of Ukrainian basketball players in the pre-qualification for the 2027 World Cup

The presence of victories in Ukrainian basketball teams does not seem straightforward - both the U-16 women's team and the men's team have reached the main round of the WC-2027 qualifiers. The national men's team of Ukraine won in the pre-qualification of the World Cup-2027, defeating Slovakia 98:86 away.

Ukraine also achieved victory in the pre-qualification for the World Cup-2027, beating Switzerland 73:64 in a nominally home match. In this game, Sanon and Lipoviy stood out the most, but overall the team showed resilience and earned important points.

After a disappointing start at the U-16 European Basketball Championship, Ukraine's women's cadet team decided to rectify its situation. In contrast, the men's national team successfully won in the pre-qualification for the World Cup-2027, but there are doubts about the stability of the achievements of both teams.
