The Ukraine U-20 youth basketball team confidently defeated Great Britain with a score of 74:53 at the beginning of the European Championship in Division B taking place in Hungary. Our girls displayed impressive play both in defense and offense, entering the court with a great energy charge.
In the first quarter, the Ukrainian team scored 24 points and gained a 10-point lead. In the second period, the British tried mainly to level the game; however, our girls managed to maintain the lead and after the halftime were ahead by 15 points.
“In the third quarter, we were already leading by a significant margin of +23,” said coach Yevgeny Murzin.
The last period was very tense, but the Ukrainians withstood the pressure and successfully finished the game with a +20 advantage. The most effective players were Polina Tupalo, who scored 23 points and made 11 rebounds, and Elina Sinyakova, who contributed 15 points.
In the next match, the Ukrainian team will play today at 18:30 against Ireland. A victory in this match will guarantee the Ukrainians first place in the group and a strong position for advancing to the next stage of the competition.
The youth women's team of Ukraine U-20 in basketball has had a successful start at the European Championship, demonstrating true team spirit and high-level play.
