Ukraine's Basketball Team Off to a Winning Start

Ukraine's national basketball team has begun its qualifying campaign for the 2027 FIBA World Cup with two impressive wins. In their opening match, the Ukrainian squad defeated Georgia with a final score of 92:79. Oleksandr Kovliar led the charge as the game's top scorer, putting up 31 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Viacheslav Bobrov delivered a standout performance, securing a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Oleksandr Lypovyi contributed 13 points, while Tkachenko, Pustovyi, Voinarovych, Novytskyi, Sushkin, and Kovalev all played their part in securing the victory.

The Ukrainian team followed this with an 88:71 win over Denmark, solidifying their position at the top of their qualifying group. After these first two games, Ukraine ranks among the group's best teams as they continue their journey toward the World Cup. The next qualifying window is scheduled for February 2026.
