The Ukrainian national team in combat sambo won three gold medals at the 2025 World Games: details of success

At the 2025 World Games, the Ukrainian team won three gold medals in combat sambo, bringing them to third place in the medal standings. Currently, Ukraine has 26 awards.

Sambo



  • Combat category, 71 kg, men: Andriy Kucherenko – gold.

  • Combat category, 79 kg, men: Vladyslav Rudnev – gold.

  • Combat category, 88 kg, men: Petr Davidenko – gold.

  • Combat category, 65 kg, women: Yevheniya Pozdnya did not reach the semifinals.

  • Combat category, 72 kg, women: Angelina Lysenko did not reach the semifinals.



WAKO Kickboxing



  • K-1, weight category 63.5 kg, men, semifinals: Hleb Mazur reached the final.

  • K-1, weight category 91+ kg, men, semifinals: Roman Shcherbatiuk reached the final.

  • K-1, weight category 52 kg, women, semifinals: Darina Ivanova will compete for bronze.

  • K-1, weight category 60 kg, women, semifinals: Alina Martyniuk will compete for bronze.



Ukraine also participated in the European Youth Olympic Festival and took 10th place. At these competitions, the Ukrainian team won 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. This is Ukraine's second most successful performance in the history of the festivals, after 2019 when they managed to win 25 awards.



In addition to combat sambo, Ukrainian athletes also won awards in judo, swimming, athletics, taekwondo, shooting with air weapons, artistic gymnastics, and table tennis.



During the 2025 World Games, Ukrainian athletes showed confident results in combat sambo and WAKO kickboxing. The national team took third place in the medal standings thanks to triumphs in sambo and also participated in the European Youth Olympic Festival, where they won 23 awards, adding another bright page to the country's sports history.
