The Ukrainian national rhythmic gymnastics team won three medals at the World Championships in Brazil

The World Championship in rhythmic gymnastics in Rio de Janeiro has concluded, and Ukraine has won three awards. For the first time in 10 years, the Ukrainian gymnasts became medalists in the team competition, receiving a bronze medal.


Next, Taisia Onofriichuk took third place in the ribbon routine, while the Ukrainian rhythmic gymnasts won gold in the group exercises. They became champions of the competitions with three balls and two hoops.

  • Individual All-Around: Taisia Onofriichuk - fourth place, Polina Karyna - tenth place

Thanks to the gold medal, the Ukrainian team rose to third place in the medal standings. First place is held by the German team with five gold medals. We should remind you that the last time Ukrainian gymnasts were among the top three teams at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships was in 2013 when they took second place.

1. Germany - 5 gold + 0 silver + 1 bronze = 6 awards


2. Japan - 1 gold + 1 silver + 0 bronze = 2


3-4. Italy - 1 gold + 0 silver + 2 bronze = 3


3-4. Ukraine - 1 gold + 0 silver + 2 bronze = 3


5. China - 1 gold + 0 silver + 1 bronze = 2


It is also worth noting that Taisia Onofriichuk finished fourth in the individual all-around at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.
