Massive drone attack on May 13

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported a large-scale assault by Russian drones, alongside warnings of potential missile strikes to follow, all occurring on May 13. The timing of this offensive overlapped with the U.S. president’s visit to China. As of the latest update, 800 drones had been recorded, resulting in 6 fatalities and dozens of injuries, including children. Intelligence sources indicate that missile launches may follow the drone waves.

Zelensky noted that Russia deployed a substantial number of attack drones in the initial wave, aiming to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense systems. Moscow’s primary targets included critical infrastructure and life-support systems in major cities. Debris from a drone fell on an open area in Kyiv’s Obolon district.

“Russia is clearly trying to spoil the overall political atmosphere and draw attention to its evil,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Ukrainian president emphasized that this prolonged and massive attack, one of the longest by Russia, cannot be considered a coincidence, especially as the United States remains active on the international stage. He added: “As of now, we know of dozens of wounded, including children. Unfortunately, six people have died… Since the start of the day, there have been at least 800 Russian drones, and the assault continues.”

According to reports, the enemy plans to use air- and sea-launched cruise missiles, as well as ballistic missiles. Zelensky stressed the importance of the world not remaining silent, and that Russia’s true intentions must be clear to leaders and nations.

“It is crucial to apply real pressure on the Russian aggressor so that this terror stops,” he emphasized.
