Announcement of major changes in the Defense Forces of Ukraine

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced major changes in the Defense Forces and modernization of military education. These changes will be implemented under the leadership of Pavlo Palisa, who was appointed Deputy Head of the President's Office on November 29, 2024. As part of the new strategy, close cooperation with combat brigades and military command is planned.

Pavlo Palisa previously commanded the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade 'Kholodnyi Yar', which distinguished itself in the battles for Bakhmut. His experience in the military field, particularly training at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, will be an important factor in the process of modernizing military education.

Goals of the changes

These changes aim to strengthen the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces and improve the quality of training for servicemen in the face of modern challenges. Cooperation with combat brigades and military command will allow adapting training programs to the real needs of the army and increasing the effectiveness of military education.

The modernization of military education and reform of the Defense Forces are important steps in the context of the current military situation in Ukraine. These initiatives are aimed at improving the training of military personnel, which, in turn, can influence the strategic capabilities of the country in the context of armed conflict. Involvement of experienced military commanders in the reform process also indicates a desire to optimize management and training in the army.
