Bonus Payments for Energy Sector Workers
In a national address on January 23, marking the 1430th day of the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced financial bonuses for energy workers and provided an update on ongoing trilateral negotiations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This announcement comes as Ukraine's energy infrastructure remains under severe strain from continued Russian attacks. Specifically, personnel involved in emergency repair and restoration work in the energy sector will receive a bonus of 20,000 hryvnias for each month of the first quarter of 2026—January, February, and March. The most critical energy supply situations are currently recorded in:
- Kyiv and the surrounding region
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
- Kharkiv Oblast
- Zaporizhzhia
- Sumy Oblast
- Chernihiv Oblast
- Odesa
Talks in the United Arab Emirates
Separately, trilateral talks involving Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations are continuing in the UAE. The Ukrainian side is represented by Rustem Umerov, Kyrylo Budanov, David Arakhamia, and Sergiy Kyslytsya. It is important to note that on January 24, the delegation is expected to be joined by Chief of the General Staff General Hnatov and a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Skibitskyi.
Reports indicate that in December alone, occupying forces lost 35,000 personnel, highlighting the intensity of the fighting on the front lines.
The President's address and the bonus announcement underscore the state's efforts to support the energy workforce during wartime and the critical need to maintain stable power supply for the population. These talks in the UAE reflect Ukraine's active diplomatic engagement on the international stage, which could influence the future trajectory of the conflict. As combat operations persist, ensuring energy stability and supporting this vital sector is crucial for the country's overall resilience and functionality.
