Latest from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine expects fresh support packages from its European allies this week. As part of ongoing diplomatic efforts, meetings are planned with the prime ministers of Denmark and Lithuania, along with critical negotiations in the United Kingdom and with representatives of the European Union. Ukraine aims to open all six accession negotiation clusters for EU membership by the end of 2026.
At the upcoming EU leaders’ summit, two additional clusters are expected to be launched, adding to the two that were opened in summer 2026. Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to securing comprehensive financial aid for both the state and its citizens, as well as fulfilling agreements made with European partners. Relevant laws and government decisions are slated for approval this week.
“We are preparing strong support measures for Ukraine this week. I remain in close contact with all partners who can assist us effectively. Today, I will speak with the prime ministers of Denmark and Lithuania. Tomorrow, important talks will take place in the UK, followed by discussions with the European Union,” the president stated.
In addition, Ukraine is strengthening cooperation with international partners to enhance its air defense capabilities. Recently, Kyiv was targeted by five ballistic missiles without prior warning. Ukraine’s Armed Forces detected the incoming missiles just seconds before impact. Zelensky noted, “Five ballistic missiles were launched, and our Armed Forces saw them mere seconds before they struck.”
Ukraine continues full collaboration with allies on military and intelligence fronts. Ongoing communication with the United States remains active, with both Ukrainian and American teams exploring pathways toward peace. Zelensky revealed that Ukrainian officials have already submitted proposals to the US side concerning potential upcoming meetings and negotiations.
“We must work toward peace and explore the right courses of action. Ukraine is open to talks and supports the US President’s call for an energy ceasefire. It is essential that Russia also agrees to this arrangement,” Zelensky emphasized.
Security Measures and Winter Preparedness in Kyiv
The president has initiated consultations focused on urgent security and administrative steps to prepare Kyiv for the winter season and to protect critical infrastructure. Participants included:
- Vasyl Malyuk
- Ivan Fedorov
- Ihor Terekhov
- Kostiantyn Yefymenko
- Maksym Yefimov
Zelensky highlighted that Kyiv lags behind other regions in implementing resilience plans, stating, “Decisive actions and acceleration are necessary.”
The president also expressed gratitude toward emergency responders, police, and all those assisting communities affected by Russian attacks across Ukraine. “From Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Donetsk region, to every city and community, including Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Rivne—there are countless individuals saving lives and ensuring Ukraine’s recovery and resilience,” he concluded.
On October 13, former US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States has continued to provide Ukraine with intelligence support and military equipment through the PURL mechanism.
These developments highlight the crucial role of international backing for Ukraine amid ongoing military aggression. The upcoming meetings with European and American partners could prove pivotal for regional security and stability. Ukraine’s focus on bolstering air defense capabilities underscores the urgency of sustaining close cooperation with global allies, especially given the persistent threat posed by Russia.
