More Resources for Ukraine’s Frontline Forces
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a boost in funding for combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), set to take effect in July. This decision falls under a direct financing program launched last year. Specifically, a separate funding stream will be introduced for artillery units operating in combat zones, as well as for corps-level formations.
“The decision from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff has been made, and in July, our units will receive additional resources,” Zelenskyy stated.
New Initiatives and Their Impact
Under the new initiatives, funding will be allocated per battalion engaged in combat missions. This approach is designed to give commanders greater predictability in managing their forces and to significantly expand units’ ability to independently organize personnel training.
“This means more predictability for commanders in management and significantly more opportunities for units to independently organize personnel training,” the president added.
Additionally, since December 2025, a program has been in place to guarantee the monthly distribution of personnel to combat brigades. A third area of focus is the strengthening of air defense. Oleksandr Palisa reported on communications with partners regarding this issue, emphasizing that 'missiles and air defense systems for Ukraine are the top priority of international work.' Together, these initiatives aim to enhance the effectiveness of AFU combat operations and bolster the country’s defense capabilities.
This increase in funding for the AFU marks a critical step amid the ongoing conflict, as providing additional resources will enable the military to better respond to challenges on the battlefield. The specific attention to artillery units and air defense reflects a drive to adapt to modern threats and improve operational readiness. These changes also underscore Ukraine’s commitment to working with international partners to strengthen its own security.
In addition to the increased funding for combat units, President Zelenskyy has also directed the Defense Ministry to expedite the delivery of anti-ballistic missile systems. This move is crucial for enhancing Ukraine's defense capabilities against aerial threats.
