Readiness of the document on security guarantees for Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported the readiness of the document on security guarantees for Ukraine after negotiations with the American side in Paris. As Zelensky noted, the document is practically ready for finalization at the highest level with the President of the United States.
In particular, on January 7, 2023, Zelensky received a report from the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, confirming the readiness of this important document. The President noted that complex issues regarding the end of the war were raised during the discussions. He also emphasized that the American side is negotiating with Russia in the context of peace talks.
'The USA will receive feedback from Russia regarding the aggressor's readiness to end the war.' Volodymyr Zelensky
Zelensky expressed hope that the latest Russian strikes do not indicate that Moscow is revising its priorities. The President also emphasized the need to increase pressure on Russia, as this should correspond to the intensive work of the negotiation teams. He noted that the Russian side is 'turning up its nose,' indicating its unwillingness to make compromises.
International efforts to stabilize the situation
Thus, the readiness of the document on security guarantees for Ukraine is an important step within the framework of international efforts to stabilize the situation in the region and seek ways to end the conflict. This stage of negotiations could be decisive for forming a new security architecture in Europe, taking into account the interests of all parties, including Ukraine, amid ongoing aggression from Russia.
