Ukraine-Russia Summit Proposal
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed his readiness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in any world capital, excluding Moscow or Belarus. This statement was relayed by Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha. Kyiv has formally requested Turkey and several other nations to facilitate a leaders' summit. This diplomatic push comes as the war, now in its third year, continues to exact a heavy toll.
Andrii Sybiha confirmed Kyiv's willingness to engage in talks with Russia, potentially involving Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and possibly U.S. representatives. President Erdoğan has stated that Turkey is prepared to mediate direct negotiations between the two warring nations. The head of the Ukrainian President's Office, Kyrylo Budanov, also noted that the negotiation process aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine has never been fully suspended.
“We are currently advocating for a meeting to generate new momentum for this diplomatic initiative—President Zelenskyy with Putin. We have asked the Turks for this, and we have asked certain other capitals. We addressed the Turks specifically. But if another capital, other than Moscow and Belarus, organizes such a meeting, we will go. This is important for us.”

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that the issue of resuming talks with Ukraine is not the Kremlin's top priority. This stance highlights the significant challenges facing current diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
