Ukrainian President Addresses JEF Leaders' Summit
In a speech delivered at the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) Leaders' Summit in Helsinki, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined his nation's ambition to become a full member of the defense coalition. The address, shared on his official Telegram channel, highlighted Ukraine's contributions to security in the Persian Gulf region and global stability. Zelenskyy called for closer practical cooperation between Ukraine, JEF nations, and European states to ensure effective defense on land, in the air, and at sea.
Key Areas for Enhanced Cooperation
Zelenskyy emphasized that collaboration must extend beyond the production of new weapons and technologies, such as drones, to include the practical experience of their use and integration with radar, aviation, and other air defense systems.
"I am convinced that we in Europe need to establish closer cooperation," stated Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The summit also noted Ukraine's recently acquired Enhanced Partner status, which was granted in Oslo. This status opens new opportunities for Ukraine's participation in TARASSIS training exercises.
"This status already opens opportunities for practical cooperation; we are ready to move forward, contributing our experience and our capabilities to make the community even stronger. And our goal is simple and clear—Ukraine is ready to become a full member of the Joint Expeditionary Force," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
President Zelenskyy's speech at the JEF summit underscores Ukraine's drive for an active role in regional security and its readiness to collaborate with European partners. By stressing the integration of technology and battlefield experience, Zelenskyy aims to bolster Ukraine's international standing. The JEF, a UK-led force of ten nations, is a flexible military alliance designed for rapid response, making Ukraine's potential membership a significant strategic consideration for European defense.
