Zelensky and Trump discussed the possibility of territorial exchanges

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with US leader Donald Trump allowed the possibility of discussing the issue of territorial exchanges, reported The Wall Street Journal.

During the visit to Washington, possible options for a peaceful resolution of the war were discussed, and the issue of territory exchanges may be among various scenarios. However, Zelensky emphasized that no decisions can be made without the participation of the Ukrainian people.

According to Zelensky: 'Implementing such an idea is extremely difficult. First of all, it is related to the necessity of resettling a large number of people from the conflict zone.'

The leader of Ukraine also noted that the current Constitution does not allow transferring lands to other states without conducting a nationwide referendum.

Zelensky emphasized: 'Theoretically, only so-called 'proportional exchanges' are possible, but specific details still need to be clarified.'

The President of Ukraine stressed that there can be no secret agreements regarding territorial integrity, and the final decision must be made by the country's citizens. It is worth noting that the USA is among the countries guaranteeing security for Ukraine.
