Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class, to painter Ivan Marchuk. The recognition was conferred on May 12, the artist's 90th birthday. Established in 1995, this order is given for outstanding personal contributions to Ukrainian culture, arts, science, strengthening Ukraine's international standing, state-building, and human rights advocacy. Marchuk's Artistic Legacy

In his decree, President Zelenskyy stated:

“For a significant personal contribution to the development of fine arts, many years of fruitful creative work, and high professional skill, I hereby award the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class, to IVAN MARCHUK, painter, People's Artist of Ukraine.”

Ivan Marchuk is one of the most globally recognized contemporary Ukrainian artists. He invented the technique known as "pliontanism," which has become his signature style in visual art. In 2007, he was named to the prestigious British list of the 100 Geniuses of Today, the only Ukrainian to receive that distinction. Over his lifetime, he has created approximately 5,000 works and held more than 150 solo exhibitions both in Ukraine and abroad.

Marchuk is a laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine and a recipient of the Order of Liberty. His impact on Ukrainian culture and art is undeniable, and this presidential award further underscores the significance of his life's work.

This recognition not only celebrates Ivan Marchuk's personal achievements but also highlights the broader development of Ukrainian art on the world stage. Bestowing the honor on his 90th birthday reflects deep respect for his creative influence on Ukraine's cultural landscape. Such acknowledgments help promote Ukrainian culture and art globally, which is especially vital amid current challenges and efforts to strengthen Ukraine's national image.

As Ivan Marchuk continues to receive accolades for his remarkable contributions to the arts, it is worth noting that his works have gained prominence among influential figures in Ukraine. Recently, paintings by Ivan Marchuk were found in the collections of top officials, shedding light on the artist's widespread recognition and the enduring impact of his creative legacy.
