Cultural Figures Recognized with State Awards

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has conferred state honors on several cultural figures, with two posthumous awards drawing particular attention. Mykhailo Klymenko, a member of the band ADAM, was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit, Third Class. He passed away on December 7, 2025, due to complications from tuberculous meningitis.

In a separate posthumous recognition, People's Artist Stepan Hiha received the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, Fifth Class. Hiha died on December 12, 2025, from complications arising from an infection linked to his diabetes. He had been hospitalized in November 2025.

Living Artists Also Decorated

Among the living recipients, TV presenter Andriy Bednyakov was awarded the Order of Merit, Third Class. He personally received the honor from the President during a Constitution Day ceremony. These awards are traditionally given for contributions to national development, strengthening Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for significant professional achievements and dedicated service.

Earlier recipients of honorary state awards include:

  • Iryna Fedyshyn
  • Vasyl Baidak
