Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed the opinion that Russia finances its war by selling energy resources. He emphasized that this situation could lead to a reduction in social support within Russian society, which is the main fear of the Kremlin leadership.
“There are a lot of different kinds of money – I mean money in various formats. The biggest source of budget revenue is energy resources: the sale of energy resources, primarily gas and oil,” the president noted.
Zelensky called on Europe to stop any energy resource supplies from Russia and supported the United States on this issue. He stressed the importance of finding alternative energy sources to prevent dependence on the Russian Federation.
“There are risks, we understand, there are other logistics, it may be more expensive, but we need to find a way and stop purchasing energy resources from other countries. Ultimately – from Russia,” Zelensky concluded.
