Ukrainian President Meets with Top NATO Officials in Kyiv
In Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held discussions with U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker and Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, Commander of the NATO Mission. The central focus of the meeting was safeguarding Ukraine's skies. The parties addressed increasing the supply of interceptors for Patriot systems under the PURL program.
Zelenskyy also highlighted a decision by U.S. President Donald Trump, made during his visit to Ankara, which granted Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot systems. Additionally, teams from both nations are finalizing an agreement on drones, referred to as the Drone Deal.
Award Ceremony and Gratitude for Continued Support
During the meeting, Zelenskyy awarded Lieutenant General Buzzard the Order of Merit, Third Class. He stressed that defending Ukraine's airspace is now a top priority, noting that
“massive Russian strikes are ongoing”– the president stated. He also expressed optimism about finalizing the agreement, saying:
“This has real potential, and we hope to finalize it soon”. Concluding the talks, Zelenskyy thanked President Trump, the U.S. Congress, and the American people for their support, adding:
“Thank you for standing with us throughout all these years of aggression”.
