Meeting of the President of Ukraine with the Minister of Foreign Affairs

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha to discuss the tasks for the current year and personnel changes in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, attention was drawn to the results of diplomatic work in 2025 and the definition of plans for the near future.

Personnel changes in the diplomatic corps

Andrii Sybiha will present candidates for personnel changes in the diplomatic corps, which indicates intentions to improve the work of the foreign affairs agency. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that, considering the necessity of consistently effective work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, a candidate for the new first deputy minister of foreign affairs will be chosen. The president also expressed his expectation to receive proposals for making a decision.

Zelensky had previously stated that he does not plan to change the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He noted that he is satisfied with the results of the work of the foreign affairs agency, and the news about the resignation of Minister Andrii Sybiha was called pure rumors by the head of state.

The main thing is for every agreement in the interests of Ukraine, every contract, every partnership to work one hundred percent.

Speaking about the importance of diplomatic work, Sybiha noted that Zelensky also emphasized the necessity to define the directions for further interaction.

This meeting highlights the activity of Ukrainian diplomacy in the context of current international challenges and the need to adapt foreign policy strategies. Personnel changes may indicate a desire to increase the effectiveness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and improve the results of diplomatic activities, which is important in light of modern geopolitical circumstances. Defining new directions of interaction may also impact Ukraine’s future international relations.
