President Zelensky Meets with Japan's House of Representatives Speaker
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with Eisuke Mori, Speaker of Japan's House of Representatives, focusing on crucial energy assistance for Ukraine ahead of the winter season, defense collaboration, and the ongoing partnership between the two nations. Zelensky expressed gratitude to Japan for its steadfast support since Russia's full-scale invasion began.
During their discussion, the Ukrainian leader praised Japan's humanitarian, energy, and political aid.
“From Japan's G7 presidency onward, the country has consistently upheld Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. I want to extend my sincere thanks to you and your people for this unwavering support,” Zelensky stated.He also reaffirmed Ukraine's commitment to respecting Japan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In response, Eisuke Mori thanked Ukraine for its support of Japan's territorial sovereignty. He conveyed Japan's firm determination to continue backing Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity.
“This visit to Ukraine demonstrates the unified stance of the Japanese parliament, where all parties, regardless of political views, stand firmly in support of Ukraine,” Mori emphasized.
Advancing Bilateral Cooperation
Zelensky acknowledged Japan's decision to provide non-lethal defense aid, including participation in the PURL program. He extended an invitation to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to visit Ukraine. To conclude the meeting, Zelensky awarded Speaker Mori the Order of Merit, First Class, underscoring the significance of their countries' cooperation.
