New Active Defense Campaign Launched in Donetsk
President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed the initiation of a fresh active defense operation in the Donetsk region, carried out by the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces, alongside the ongoing 'Vivaldi' mission. Reports indicate that the Third Army Corps has introduced innovative tactics, deploying ground-based robotic grenade systems. Over the past week, Ukrainian defenders have inflicted more than 10,660 Russian casualties, including both killed and wounded.
Humanitarian Efforts in Occupied Oleshky
Ukrainian defense units successfully delivered approximately four tons of food supplies to the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky in Kherson Oblast using drones. These provisions reached 100 designated locations through coordinated efforts involving the Marine Corps, National Guard, and border troops. Despite this, around 2,000 Ukrainians remain held hostage by occupying forces in Oleshky without access to food, water, or electricity.
There are disturbing reports that Russian soldiers have detained and violently assaulted civilians attempting to collect the delivered aid.
"We have information that several individuals who tried to retrieve the distributed food were captured, brutally beaten, and locked in cellars by Russian troops. There are also accounts of sexual violence," stated Oleksandr Prokudin.
Advancements in Military Technology and Ongoing Operations
Over Odesa, a new Russian drone known as the 'Shahed' was detected, capable of variable speeds ranging from 250 to 800 km/h. Kirill Budanov, head of the President’s Office, announced plans for widespread deployment of interceptor drones designed to counter enemy UAVs. Anatoliy 'Kupol,' commander of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, confirmed that prototype interceptor drones are undergoing live combat testing and could enter production within months.
"The prototypes are effective but currently produced in limited numbers. Unlike before, we are now testing them under real combat conditions," he explained.
Marine infantry recently completed an operation dubbed 'audit,' clearing 5 square kilometers in the Pokrovske sector and capturing two enemy combatants. MiG-29 pilots destroyed a hostile crossing point in the northern area following aerial reconnaissance and precision airstrikes. The General Staff confirmed strikes on enemy drone storage and launch sites in occupied Donetsk, as well as ammunition and fuel depots in Luhansk.
Looking ahead, Ukraine intends to host a trilateral summit in October with the United States and Russia to discuss ending the war, reducing attacks on critical energy infrastructure, and securing maritime navigation routes.
