In an evening address on June 29, 2025, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced key state decisions and losses among defenders. The head of state signed a decree posthumously awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine to pilot Maksym Usty menko. The Ukrainian pilot died as a result of a Russian attack, which included over 500 strike drones and missiles. Most targets were destroyed by air defense forces. Noting the feat of the fallen, Zelensky expressed condolences to his family and comrades.
In addition, the president announced Ukraine's withdrawal from the anti-personnel mine convention due to Russia's mass use of anti-personnel mines. 'Russia cynically uses anti-personnel mines, making them an indispensable tool of defense,' Zelensky explained. Furthermore, it was announced that Ukrainian sanctions would be fully synchronized with European ones, as well as the preparation of new decisions with partners concerning Ukraine's defense and resilience.
