Report of the President of Ukraine on the Russian tanker fleet

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky received a report from the First Deputy Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Oleg Lugovsky regarding communication with the Russian side and its attitude towards Ukraine. Within the framework of this report, new measures of pressure on the Russian tanker fleet were discussed. Zelensky instructed to provide partners with information about the expansion of Russia's tanker fleet, which is an important step in the fight against aggression from the neighboring state.

Effectiveness of measures and international support

According to the information provided, at least 20% of the vessels of the Russian fleet have stopped, indicating the effectiveness of the implemented measures. Restrictions on Russian maritime oil exports could lead to a reduction in Russia's revenue by at least $30 billion. These data underline the importance of continuing pressure on the aggressor, as decreasing funding for the Russian war is a key task for Ukraine and its partners.

The US Coast Guard is also actively participating in efforts against the Russian tanker fleet. It detained the tankers Bella I and Sophia, which last docked in Venezuela or were heading there. In addition, the US is preparing to bring criminal charges against the crew members of the Bella I tanker. Another important point is the seizure of the tanker Olina in the Caribbean, indicating increasing pressure from international forces on Russian maritime operations.

“The task of everyone in the world who wants an end to this war should be to reduce Russia's ability to adapt to pressure in response to this war”

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky

Zelensky emphasized that all efforts should be based on realistic perspectives, and that effective pressure on the aggressor is the main fertilizer for the diplomatic process. These comments highlight the importance of efforts by the international community to achieve peace in the region.

This report and the actions discussed indicate Ukraine's focus on international cooperation to overcome Russian aggression. Efforts aimed at limiting the funding of the war through sanctions and other measures can significantly impact the economic situation in Russia and its military capabilities. It is important that Ukraine not only acts independently but also engages international partners, highlighting the global nature of this conflict and the importance of joint actions in resolving it.
